A Very Russian Story
Pskov! How many times have I passed through, but I never managed to properly get to know this old Russian town! And now: a planned meeting, decent autumn weather, a Sunday—everything aligns wonderfully! And I decide to visit.
The city is abundant with Russian culture. There are many churches from the 15th-16th centuries, preserved in excellent condition. I couldn't resist visiting every single one. It's very atmospheric, enchanting, a real time machine!
Pskov boasts a genuine Slavic fortress—the Pskov Kremlin. Its dimensions are truly impressive! You can walk for a long time inside its courtyard and outside, along the Great River, past European-style city buildings along the canal, and through the well-kept park nearby.
Our acquaintance couldn't have been more timely! I'm currently working on a medieval composition. At just the right moment, I received a huge dose of inspiration and thematic impressions. It was fascinating to climb around and examine other preserved medieval structures. Walking through the city center, I kept stumbling upon them.
The weather indulged me all day with sunshine and calm. It was already the third "Indian summer" this year! It feels like I brought this weather back to St. Petersburg with me the next day. May the yellowed leaves fall beautifully, right down to the very last one!
