A Few St. Petersburg moments
This spring hasn't been generous with beautiful weather. Winter is reluctant to retreat; sometimes it feels as if autumn is peeking through, too. But there have been bright days with interesting and inspiring scenes.
Recently, I was walking along the Neva on a clear day. The sun was setting, the city was humming, and little boats were beginning to crawl out of their winter hibernation.
Strolling along Shpalernaya Street, I saw an interesting moment. Two buildings stood so close together, like two friends. In the gap between them, I watched the sunset begin, tinged with the first hints of the white nights. On another clear day, I was crossing a bridge and caught a wonderful shot. It was a tram, filled with the setting sun. I immediately thought of my wife, who adores them, and in an instant, this image was born.
The weather could be deceptive, too. The sun would appear, then hide again. That's exactly how it was on one fine weekend when I found myself in a wonderful park in Pushkin. Everything looked more autumnal than spring-like: ice in patches on the water and canals, faded grass, and a gloomy sky. And in that moment, I captured a pleasant, in its own way delightful and inspiring, picture.
Closer to May, the sun began to peek out more often. You could even soak up its warmth sitting at home, replenishing much-needed vitamin D. A warm scene was right before me, and I decided to preserve it.
